(b) Creative Ideas for Re-Designing a Room for the Holidays
The Holiday season and the new year are approaching and with it you may find yourself some time to redesign the interior of a room. It might be a child's room, a living room, a classroom or even your office at work.
Most of the following ideas have been developed using the "5 Senses" Creative Tool described in the following section of this newsletter. Some of the ideas do not require any special expenses and may be easily reversed or changed if you just want to make a temporary change (just for a Christmas party, for instance).
Happy Holidays Room Makeover!!!
- Journey of colors: Think of the room as of a rainbow or a color gradient. Moving through it should feel like moving through different colors. You may achieve this by painting the walls with gradual colors, or by placing colored covers or carpets on the floor. If you can hand gentle colored clothes from the ceiling people would literally "go through" the colors as they walk around the room. Another way to do this is to place several colored objects around the room, preferably at regular intervals of 2-3 feet apart.
- The sound of a good "atmosphere": This idea brings together two senses - sense of smell and sense of hearing. You'll need some simple pieces of equipment for this. Collect different items that make pleasant sounds - bells, musical cards, musical boxes, etc. You then need to attach each different item to aromatic appliances - sprays or home perfumes. You need to do this in such a way that when someone pulls the bells or opens the music box - both sound and good fragrance are released. In this way, the room would turn into a sound and smell experience or adventure.
- "Candy on a wall": This is a spin-off the Hensel and Gretel story. Although we do not wish to resemble the witch, we may use the ideas of sweets for walls. Actually - in this case, we would use candies instead of paintings or artwork on the walls. Use different placeholders to hang various types of candy on the walls or off the ceiling (hanging down from a Ceiling Mobile). Visitors or people living in the house may thus have "a taste of the wall". You can make different walls hold different tastes - one with sour sweets, another with different flavors of chocolate and a third with fruit flavors.

(c) Creative Tool: The Five Senses...
Sometimes our most obvious and daily "tool" can be the source of creative ideas. I am talking about our five senses. This tool can be used to produce ideas for designing products, spaces or rooms (see above), ideas for parties or special events, and much more.
Here is how you can use our natural gifts for coming up with creative ideas.
First - think of the product, the place or the event. List the senses that are activated by it and involved in it.
Then do one of the following:
- Intensify a sense: Choose one of the senses that is involved and make the experience stronger - intensify the visual effects, make the sound more dominant, the touch more memorable, the taste stronger or the smell more noted.
Example: in food products - make the taste and smell intense, and call the products in names that stress the extreme experience of eating it and enjoying it.
- Switch senses: Replace on of the senses with an alternative sense. Instead of sound - use written words, instead of vision - let people feel it through touch, and so forth.
Example: lots of fun classroom or party games may be easily invented in which participants need to use one sense instead of the other.
- Combine several senses: This is used to make the experience more holistic and powerful. Make the product or place so that when you use it - several senses are activated together - taste, smell, sound, touch or vision.
Example: a playroom in which when you touch the surface of the walls you hear a sound, and a combination of lights (e.g. vision) is switched on.
- Neutralize a sense: Take one of the existing senses out of the experience. Remove or minimize its use as much as possible.
Example: a children's museum wished to convey to kids the meaning of being blind. It came up with an exhibition in which there was total darkness in the room and visitors where guided by blind guides, who helped them feel their way around - without the help of normal sight.

(e) Recommendation of the month: Work-At-Home Moms
This month's recommendation is dedicated to all those moms out there...
Specifically, this is one of the best programs that help busy mothers find a way to create, express themselves and make money off it! It is based on the rich knowledge and experience of Ken Envoy, one of the most successful Internet entrepreneurs. Ken Envoy is a physician who formerly taught and practiced emergency medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
He believes in "e-commerce for the rest of us". In his eyes - every small or home business can be empowered to use the Internet to leverage their income-building potential.
If you are thinking of setting up your own Internet business - this is the place to start!
